The council is an organization whose primary objective is to advance
and disseminate knowledge and information concerning the art and
science of near-infrared spectroscopy and other allied sciences. The Council For Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (CNIRS) is a technical affiliate of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy.
The council sponsors many activities throughout the year,
including the International Diffuse Reflectance Conference (IDRC) in

||The Board of the Council for NIR Spectroscopy is saddened to report that our friend and colleague Dr. Károly Kaffka has passed on. He is fondly remembered as an eager participant in many of the IDRC meetings in Chambersburg. In addition, he was happy to share his techniques in qualitative analysis of food samples, as well as an entrepreneur in the engineering of NIR instruments.
His family has indicated that he died after a wonderful and fulfilled life, after a short illness, in his 87th year, on June 16, 2014. Funeral services will be performed at the Heart of Jesus Church (Mária utca 25, H-1085 Budapest) on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 4:00 pm.
